Dog Days

Some days you wake up with things to do. And none of them get done. That’s okay: you’re not your to-do list.

Some days, your brain feels like it’s jogging through wet cement. Names (including your own) escape you. But you know what? That’s okay too. You’re not in charge – and you don’t need to be either.

Some days every word out of your mouth is a blunder. But we all make mistakes and we all say stupid stuff.  They’ll get over it and so will you.

Some days the washing machine breaks and the milk leaks and the cat pukes and the repairman doesn’t turn up and you get a parking ticket and your mum asks why you haven’t called. Close the door to the kitchen. Unplug the phone.  Have a takeaway and a pray. There’s no washing-up and your Father is working on it.

Some days should never have been.  But that’s okay –  and so are you. Tomorrow is a fresh start.
