The Sheep’s Psalm

sheep3The world is my shepherd

It fills me with wants

It makes me run round; ever faster.

It leads me to busy shopping centres

It reinforces my sense of inadequacy

It leads me down paths of indulgence, for self-esteem’s sake.

Yea, though I queue in the self-service checkout

I will fear no missed bargains; For my credit card is with me;

My smartphone and my flatscreen, they comfort me.

Marks and Spencer have prepared food before me in the presence of Downton;

My wine glass is empty.

Surely rest and relaxation will follow when we both retire,

and we’ll live in a cottage by the coast – if we can keep up the repayments.
